Saint-Émilionin kylä itsessään on todella pieni, joten yksi päivä siellä riittää hyvin. Me vietettiin siis reissun viimeinen yö tuolla ja meidän upeasta hotellista lisää viikonloppuna!

It has already been several weeks since our road trip around France, but I still wanted to introduce you Saint-Émilion. It was the last stop of our tour and one of my favorites. Saint-Émilion is located close to Bordeaux (30min. car ride away) and is a small village surrounded by vineyards. For some reason I just love vineyards (probably because in Finland we don’t have any) and I have already visited some in the South of France. I have to say I loved Saint-Émilion and it’s probably one of the most picturesque places I have been to. I also personally love a good glass of wine so it was a great place for me. Or not really, because the vineyards in the village only produce red wine and it’s not one of my favorites…luckily they wine stores had a wide range of all kinds of wines so I was good. My boyfriend on the other hand got to enjoy the local wines!

We also did one of those touristy bus tours (my first tourist bus tour hih!) and I loved it. We got a lot of info about wines in general, about the procedure and then we were introduced to the wineries. The history of some of them was very interesting and even LVMH has a winery in Saint-Émilion. One of the things I suggest you do if you’re ever there is to visit the wineries, because some of them have open doors so you can do some wine tasting and of course do some wine shopping (most places also ship them to your home so no need to drag 10 bottles in the plane with you ;)).

The village of Saint-Émilion is small so one day (or even half) is enough for a visit. We spent the night at a local hotel, which I’ll tell you more about this weekend. It was just amazing!
