[dropcap custom_class=”normal”]Pukeutumisen kannalta lempivuodenaikani on syksy, mutta mitä tulee juhlapyhiin, niin joulu on ehdoton suosikkini. Meillä on perheeni kanssa vahvat perinteet ja parasta joulussa on juuri se yhteinen aika. Koristelut, joulumusiikki, jouluruoka (vaikka se ei kuulu suosikkeihini) ovat kaikki osa joulun taikaa. Niin myös se aaton odottaminen. Mielestäni tämä aika juuri ennen aattoa on parasta kun voi suunnitella, koristella kotia ja miettiä mitä sitä pakkaisi rakkaille kuusen alle. Luonnollisesti lahjat eivät ole se tärkein asia joulussa, mutta itse rakastan hankkia muille jotain mistä tiedän (tai luulen) heidän ilahtuvan. Se fiilis kun toinen avaa paketin ja jännityksellä sitä odottaa mitä toisen ilme paljastaa, heh…Jos joulumieltä haluaa levittää myös perheen ulkopuolelle, niin suosittelen osallistumaan vuosittaiseen Joulupuu keräykseen (lisätietoja täältä). Meillä on kotona täällä Ranskassa minikuusi jo koristeltuna, sekä muutamia muita joulukoristeita. Pyhät vietämme Suomessa, joten tämän enempää emme kotiamme koristele, mutta hyvä alku tämäkin! Vanhempieni kuusenkoristeet on ostettu harkiten useampien vuosien aikana ja niin kauniita koristeita ei tunnu enää löytyvän mistään. Olen siis äärimmäisen kranttu mitä tulee koristeisiin, mutta vanhempieni tavoin, hiljaa hyvää tulee.

Olenko yksin tämän aikaisen joulufiilistelyni kanssa vai onko siellä ruudun toisella puolella muita kohtalotovereita?

 

For those of who don’t like Christmas or think it’s too early to talk about it, I recommend you to skip this post heh. Fall is my favorite season in general, but Christmas is without a doubt my favorite holiday season. We have long traditions with my family and our Christmas’s are pretty much the same every year and that’s what I love. Spending quality time with my family and all the traditions reminding me of my childhood just makes Christmas even more special. Obviously gifts are not the most important part of this holiday, but I love giving gifts. Christmas is also a good time to do something good for others and luckily there are many charity’s that makes it easy. In Finland there is for example a gift collection for children who are in child protective services and who might not have the best Christmas to begin with. With a small effort, you can really make a child’s Christmas Eve a little better. More about this collection here (only in Finland).

A big part of Christmas is also the decorations. I have already started decorating our home, but as we are spending the holidays in Finland, I’m not going to go overboard (my boyfriend is surely relieved heh). But it’s good to start from somewhere as I’m hoping to start creating our own Christmas traditions as well. So slowly, but surely…

Am I the only person getting excited about Christmas so early or are there others out there?
